Mike Dunning is the Principal Consultant for The Healthcare Security Consulting Group, LLC. Mike has served as the subject matter expert for healthcare security operations and compliance, designing, implementing, and providing oversight for the security programs for three health systems and for a large contract security company with security officers in over 800 hospitals and 4,000 healthcare facilities across the United States and Canada.
He is a recognized expert in the fields of security, healthcare security, and emergency management with board certifications and education from the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS), the International Association for Emergency Managers (IAEM), The Medical College of Georgia, and the University of Maryland.
Mike provides webinars through several state hospital associations to increase preparedness and reduce violence to staff and patients. He is also a published author and has been the guest speaker at numerous events across the United States, presenting on topics such as Workplace Violence Prevention and Reduction, Preparing Your Security Program for Accreditation, and Training and the Use of Force in a Healthcare Environment.
As a decorated veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), Mike proudly served in the U.S. Air Force where he was part of the security detail for the U.S. Secretary of Defense, led security teams in hostile areas across the world, served in Desert Storm and led the security detail protecting the Supreme Allied Commander of Europe and his aircraft.
Mike is an active member and has served in multiple volunteer positions with the IAHSS, the American Society for Training and Development, A.S.I.S., the Association for Healthcare Accreditation Professionals, and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
